Wjazd w chmury
Naszym celem było Aonach Mòr i słynna kolejka gondolowa Nevis Range — jedyna górska kolejka gondolowa w Wielkiej Brytanii.
Muszę przyznać, że byłam naprawdę
podekscytowana.
zamknęły i rozpoczęliśmy spokojną podróż w górę.
A widoki? Po prostu niesamowite!
Ponieważ pogoda była tak piękna i
słoneczna, mogliśmy naprawdę nacieszyć się otaczającym nas krajobrazem. Im
Podziwialiśmy widoki, robiliśmy zdjęcia i
cieszyliśmy się tym pięknym dniem.
I chyba właśnie to najbardziej kocham w mieszkaniu w Szkocji. Zawsze jest jakieś kolejne miejsce do odkrycia. Kolejna droga prowadząca do czegoś pięknego.
I przejażdżka gondolą, dzięki której mogliśmy zobaczyć Highlands
drugiej.
I ten poniedziałek stał się
kolejnym pięknym rozdziałem tej historii.
Moja Mała Szkocja — zawsze jest
tu coś nowego do odkrycia. ❤️🏔️
Do następnej przygody…
A Sunny Monday in
the Highlands – A Journey on Britain's Only Mountain Gondola
There are days when Scotland seems to put on its very best dress. Last Monday was one of those days.
The sun was
shining, the sky was a deep, cloudless blue, and the weather was simply perfect
for a little adventure. So we set off from Elgin and headed towards the
Highlands, not quite knowing how beautiful the day would become.
I truly love travelling through Scotland: the journey itself becomes part of the adventure. Leaving Elgin behind, we watched the landscape slowly change — familiar roads giving way to wider open spaces, forests, and, eventually, those magnificent Highland mountains that always make me stop and look.
Our destination
was Nevis Range, near Fort William — and this time, something
rather special was waiting for us: a ride on the UK's only mountain gondola.
Up, up and away
The Nevis Range Mountain Gondola carries visitors up the slopes of Aonach Mòr to a height of 650 metres above sea level. The journey takes around twelve to fifteen minutes, yet somehow it feels both remarkably quick and wonderfully slow at the same time.
We stepped into
the gondola, the doors closed, and slowly we began to rise. At first I watched
the landscape below us; then I realised that the higher we climbed, the more
spectacular everything became. The trees grew smaller, the roads faded into the
distance, and the mountains seemed to close in around us, vast and quiet.
I kept my eyes on the window, trying to take it all in. It was one of those moments when you don't really want to talk — you just want to look, and breathe, and remember.
The sunshine made
everything even more beautiful. The mountains stood proudly against the blue
sky, and the views seemed to stretch on forever. For those few suspended
minutes above the Highland landscape, I felt completely disconnected from
everyday life — no rushing, no thinking about what needed to be done. Just
Scotland: beautiful, wild, and peaceful.
650 metres above
the world
When we reached
the top station, we stepped out into the fresh mountain air, and the view
simply took my breath away. From up there you can enjoy panoramic views across
the surrounding Highlands, and on a clear day the eye can reach as far as the
Inner Hebrides.
We stood there for a while, simply taking it all in. I took photographs, of course — how could I not? But even with dozens of them, I knew that no photograph would ever truly capture what it felt like to stand there. Some places have to be experienced, not just photographed, and this was certainly one of them.
There are also two relatively easy viewpoint walks from the top station, towards Sgurr Finnisg-aig and Meall Beag — but that day wasn't about conquering a summit. It was about being there, looking at the landscape, and feeling grateful.
Another little
Scottish memory
On the way back down, I found myself thinking about all the little adventures that have become part of my life here. Sometimes they are big trips; sometimes just a drive somewhere new. Sometimes it's a beautiful beach, an old castle, a quiet village, or a mountain view. And sometimes it's simply a Monday when the sun is shining, and you decide to go somewhere you've never been before.
I think these are
the moments I treasure most, because living in Scotland has taught me that you
don't always have to travel far to find something extraordinary. Sometimes you
just have to open the door, get in the car, and go.
Our journey from
Elgin to Nevis Range became another little adventure added to my Scottish
story: a sunny Monday, a beautiful drive, a gondola floating above the
mountains, fresh Highland air, and views I will remember for a very long time.
As we headed home, I watched the mountains disappear behind us and thought about how lucky I am to call this beautiful country home. Scotland still surprises me. It still makes me stop. It still makes me smile. And, every now and then, it still takes my breath away.
Perhaps that is
why I keep exploring it — not because I want to see everything, but because I
know there will always be another little corner of Scotland waiting for me.
Another road. Another view. Another story. Another adventure.
And this one will
always be remembered as the beautiful sunny Monday when we went above the
Highlands.
My Little Scotland
— one journey, one memory, one beautiful place at a time. ❤️🏔️
Until the next little adventure…
